COMPARISON OF VISIT RATE COLLECTIVE TOURIST ACCOMMODATION ESTABLISHMENTS IN CHOSEN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES
Abstract
The greatest movement of tourists is registered in Europe. One of the assumptions of the stay tourism development in a given country is exactly the capacity of tourist accommodation establishments, its size, room layout as well as the overall quality standard of services. The standard of services represents the extent of quality of satisfying the needs of domestic as well as foreign visitors in a certain time-limited period. This whole process is measured by certain indexes in tourism. The obtained findings are subsequently implemented into statistical surveys of tourism industry by individual interested authorities of tourism sector. This enables consequently to evaluate total contribution of collective tourist accommodation establishments to the country's economy. The paper deals with the efficiency of domestic tourism. The assessment criterion in this case is the index of the number of tourists (domestic and foreign) and the length of stay in collective tourist accommodation establishments in selected EU countries with the accent on Slovakia. Secondary data taken from Eurostat database have been analyzed by the method of research-desk. Furthermore, the data have been verified by the methods of higher statistics. One of the findings is a fact that all examined EU countries have a declining trend for the indicator of the average number of nights spent in an accommodation establishment.
