FLAMENCO - TRADITION AND INNOVATION
Abstract
Starting with the 1980s, the world of flamenco has been witnessing a process of innovation and internal changings. The roots of this process can be practically seen in the new directions flamenco follows. The discussion revolves nowadays around the question, if tradition and flamenco are two concepts that exclude, or rather imply, one another. We aim at answering that question by means of comparison between what can be defined as two distinct styles: classic flamenco and new flamenco.
