ASIAN COUNTRIES IN WORKS OF TWO GREAT MINOR COSMOPOLITANS – NIKOLAY RYORICH AND VASSILY EROSHENKO
Abstract
Two Russian authors, Roerich Nikolay (1874-1947) and Eroshenko Vassily (1890-1952), left numerous works that considered a vivid portrait of the vanished colonial Asia, from one point, and as the first examples of the future globalization in this continent, from the other one. Both they lived in the period when Russia, China and India were involved in the political and economic collapse, but their works were free from any kind of panics and depression, that is why the contemporary reader can gain the knowledge of the real Asia from the unbiased view. The paper deals with their involvement into the ethnic cultures and languages, into personal contacts with leaders of Asian countries such as Nehru or Lu Xun. The main method of the investigation is the comparative study of different cultures and the literary approaches to the social life of local people.
