MATHEMATICS – A GENERATOR OF SOUND STRUCTURES IN MUSIC
Abstract
Among the composers' searches to find new ways to translate original ideas and feelings in musical language, intonation systems inferable from mathematical proportions concerned twentieth century musicians. Thus, in order to make operations through set theory, musical scales represent modes and modal structures are materialized through melodic and harmonic discourse itself.
