BIOPHILIA IN ERA OF TECHNOLOGY
Abstract
The nature is a space, which we, people, did not create. This is the reason why it will never be a really cognizible and absolutely understandable or examined place. In spite of the fact that we prefer living in an artificial, to humankind adapted environment, we went on to make up an environment even more artificial – the virtual cyberspace. Overusing of technologies of today clearly defines our affection towards machines and tools as extension of our own existence. Mankind is no longer absolutely dependant on the nature. Creation of the culture manifests our new home. In spite of that it seems that our affection for the nature stays universal. As the internet developed, it generated new kinds of experiences, encounters and innovations. All this tools and designs needed names. Many of the names we gave them drew upon metaphors from the natural world, as part of the haphazard. It seems there could be a connection between our passion for cyberspace and our affection for the natural world. Our subconscious has already imprinted nature into cyberspace. The aim of the article, using the methods of analysis, description and synthesis, is to explain why is this happening and to ask, if our biophilia is transformed into a new form of technobiophilia.
