THE SIGNIFICANCE OF CREATIVE INDUSTRIES IN LITHUANIAN INTERNATIONAL TRADE DEVELOPMENT
Abstract
This paper investigates the development of Lithuanian international trade of creative industries. The purpose of the research is to analyze the significance of creative industries in Lithuanian international trade development under existing conditions. Theoretical review of the definition of creative industries, nature, structure and changes of development of Lithuanian international trade are analyzed in this article in order to define the significance of creative industries in development of Lithuanian international trade. Two approaches are adopted. At first, we analyze creative industries position in global international trade. Secondly, we examine structure and changes of development of Lithuanian international trade of creative industries. The nature and patterns of international trade of creative industries in Lithuania was determined on the basis of statistical data. It was found that publishing, art crafts, visual arts and design dominate in the structure of exports of goods of Lithuanian creative industries. The research shows that structure of imports of creative industries changed in recent years. The key role in import of goods of creative industries was played by design. Thus, the analysis of international trade of creative industries revealed that Lithuanian integration into the EU had an influence on the changes of trade in creative products. Therefore, the nature of international trade has changed. This research could be useful for preparing and forecasting the possibilities of development of Lithuanian international trade of creative industries.
