Abstract

The aim of the paper is to indicate the essence of the concept of sustainable development as a new paradigm in the theory of management science. Different paradigms reflect different interpretations and aspects of modern management which are changing faster and faster. The twenty first century poses many challenges to management. Nowadays, the reconciliation of economic, social and environmental aspects is one of the most difficult problems in the area of modern enterprise management since, in the science of sustainable development, there are still many unknowns in spite of three decades of history. The paper includes the concept of ‘a paradigm’ as the basis for tools of scientific study of reality as well as the concept of a paradigm in management science against the background of the levels of compliance of paradigms in economic sciences. There has been presented the draft of the problem of sustainable enterprise management, there have been discussed the key issues associated with the implementation of the function of sustainable management as well as there have been indicated the most important areas of the operation of enterprises from the point of view of sustainable development.
