REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS AND ASSISTED REPRODACTIVE TECHNOLOGIES: NEW FORMS AND TYPES OF INEQUALITY
Abstract
In this article authors examine questions arising from the development of Emerging technologies (NBIC) which influence the process of human conception and birth. Authors identify two sets of problems, and therefore, areas of sociological studies caused by the development of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART). First set of questions is associated with the transformation of traditional understanding of nature and functions of family as a social institution and with changes of parent's - children's roles and statuses. Authors describe the process of use of ART and release the second group of problems connected with the emergence of new forms of inequality. Authors justify the need of studies dedicated to sociological aspects of quantity actual problems caused by the development of Assisted Reproductive Technology.
