WRITING SPEED AND VERBAL FLUENCY IN STUDENTS OF NATURAL SCIENCES
Abstract
Writing speed and verbal fluency of 55 students of Faculty of Education in Pristine, was researched. In this research are included students in the third year of studies, respectively 34 students who attend program of biology and 21 students of physics. In order to assess the writing speed were selected: test of writing Albanian letters, while for assessing verbal fluency: the test of writing words starting with letter “p” and the test of writing words starting with letter “s”. Results of the t-test prove that there are no differences among the tested groups of students in the variables the test of writing Albanian letter and in the variables the test of writing words starting with letter “p”, while there are significant differences in the variables the test of writing words starting with letter “s” in favour of students of biology which indicates that in general their preference is more towards language compared to the students of physics. Obtained data of this research also show that degree of correlation between the applied variables that assessed verbal fluency is higher for the both groups of tested students compared with the variables of writing speed. It is recommended to continue with further research in the area of writing speed and verbal fluency in order to increase attentive selection of students according to their abilities for the relevant programs of higher education.
