Abstract

The study provides an outline comparison of the political culture of the countries of Central Europe, on the example of the Visegrad countries - the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Slovakia. The regionalization and possibly interregionalization of those countries have for strengthening their international position undoubtedly great importance, both inside and outside the EU. Countries of Central and Eastern Europe we can still rank among countries in political transition. Those countries have much in common and divergent and seek forms of cooperation that should streamline their international position. The potential of Visegrad countries to the joint activities is largely determined by the political culture (and the level of democracy) of each country. Political culture has its objective (i.e. forms of organization of power, political system, type of political political institutions, type of party system, the ideology, programs) and subjective components (feelings, emotions, values, norms, knowledge, behavior stereotypes, perception of political institution and political personalities\ldots). In the political culture are both objective and subjective components interconnected and appear particularly in relation of inhabitants to the political institutions. They are mainly historical sources that determine the character of political culture in different countries. From aforementioned causes in this study outline comparison of the political institutions and their perception in Visegrad countries and also approaches to the ideologies. The output will be a better understanding of similarities of political culture of the Visegrad countries as potential for their further regionalization and differences of political culture as a source of misunderstanding and complications of this process.
