DEMOGRAPHIC CHANGES IN THE DANUBIAN TOWNS OF ROMANIA. CASE STUDY: FETESTI
Abstract
After 1989, due the economic changes made in Romania, the Danubian ports have suffered a decrease of the activities. They have changed the structure of functions. Many of them stopped or have a very low activity. All these problems are reflected in demography. The dynamic of population is negative, people leave these towns, the rate of unemployment increase. Fetesti has the same trend as the other Danubian towns of Romania. The only escape is to revive the commerce and the tourism, because the favourable position: Danube Valley and the Sun Highway, which link the Bucharest to Black Sea. This geostrategical position can help the demography of this town to have a good way to positive natality, natural increase, to attract people in town and to decrease the unemployment rate.
