THE PARADIGM OF PERSONAL CONSUMPTION: RESPONSE TO GLOBAL CHANGES
Abstract
Economy appears to have always been driven and determined by the development of needs, with consumption increasingly viewed as the major tool of needs satisfaction. The article is devoted to the analysis of the impact of global changes on consumption processes with the view to identifying the current trend as towards quantification or, conversely, qualification. The authors outline the evolution of scientific approach to and views on the phenomenon of personal consumption, and resort to scientific research papers on philosophy, sociology, economics and marketing published both in and outside Russia to substantiate the paradigm of personal consumption based on and revolving around consumption differentiation. The authors apply statistics analysis methodology to identify the factors influencing personal consumption in Russia.
