PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS OF TOURISM IN KEMEROVO REGION
Abstract
The study in 2012-2013 of the guests of Kemerovo region showed that both Russian and foreign citizens perceive Kemerovo region only as an industrial centre (94%) but non-tourist (6 %). Economically, this opinion is reasonable, because the main investment is in mining operations (42%), transport and communications (15.7%) and manufacture (12.9%). Kemerovo region is especially attractive for the foreign investors interested in the region as a market for the producers of mining equipment. In 2012, \$1.3 billion USD of foreign investment was brought to the region, which amounted to about 10% of all investment in Kemerovo region of which the development of tourism has obtained less than 1 % of the whole investment. The share of revenues in the budget structure of Kemerovo region from tourism is only 2%. But since 2010, to attract the investment in the area of economic preference in Tashtagol district for tourism and recreation was created. But in terms of cultural, educational and recreational resources, the investors' low interest in the tourist potential of Kuzbass is strategically biased. Though Kemerovo region is a leader in urbanization of the Siberian Federal District, it is rich in natural and historical monuments of world heritage. It has unique historical monuments: numerous archaeological monuments of the Bronze and Iron Ages, monuments in the cities of Novokuznetsk, Kemerovo, Mariinsk, Salair and in many ancient villages, national complexes of indigenous peoples. Kemerovo region has a high concentration of museums, among which the most unique Museum in the open air "Tomsk Pisanitsa," submitted to the list of specially protected sites by UNESCO. The first queue of ski complex "Sheregesh" in Tashtagol district (south of Kuzbass) and ski tourist complex "Tanai" in Promyshlennovsky area (north of Kuzbass) were already built. Kuzbass has two international airports located in Kemerovo (north of the region) and Novokuznetsk (south of the region). Standard international motorways are constructed. According to Kemerovo Statistic Agency, in 2012 in Kemerovo region, 147 collective accommodation facilities were operated. Total number of rooms was 5509, including 865 units of the highest category (15.7%).
