VOLATILITY INDEXES AS AN INVESTMENT ASSET
Abstract
The global financial crisis has been accompanied by a significant increase in the volatility of financial markets. It has supported the boom of various indexes that measure the expected volatility. Some of these indexes are used as an underlying asset of various financial derivatives and can be regarded as an investment asset nowadays. The aim of this paper is to evaluate the perspectives, advantages and disadvantages of volatility indexes as investment assets.
