GENDER DIFFERENCES IN RISKY DECISIONS IN THE CASE OF LOSS LIMITATION

Previous research has documented that women display more risk-averse choices than men do in many decision domains, including portfolio choice. Using a laboratory experiment, we study gender differences in portfolio allocation between a fund of risky assets and a safe asset. We find that men invest more into the fund than women do, consistently with the literature. We further investigate the effect of a loss limitation on net return from the fund investment.
