Hard coal in Poland is a fuel used mainly for the production of electricity. For this reason coal is essential to ensure the country's energy and social security. Currently there are 80 000 workers employed in the Polish mines (as of 31.12.2016) who maintain their families, drive the economy and pay taxes.
