This article deals with the problem of clustering North Russian cities on specific socio-demographic characteristics. The K-means method was chosen as the clustering algorithm. This clustering allows us to identify the specifics and important trends in the development of these settlements. The article presents a model of migration and demographic movement of population. The model is based on the principles of sand-pile model by P. Tank, C. Wiesenfeld and H Tang.
